Kurt Vonnegut Jr. (11 Kasım 1922 - 11 Nisan 2007), ABD'li hümanist yazardır. Kurt Vonnegut, 1922 yılında ABD'nin Indianapolis şehrinde dünyaya geldi. Cornell Üniversitesi'nde biyokimya okuduktan sonra II. Dünya Savaşı'nda Avrupa'da asker olarak hizmet verdi. Almanya'da savaş esiri olarak ele geçirildi ve Dresden şehrinin (Almanya) müttefik kuvvetler tarafından bombalanmasına şahit oldu. Bu olay Vonnegut'u derinden etkiledi ve sonucunda en başarılı romanı, Slaughterhouse-Five'ı (Mezbaha No 5), yazdı. Bu kitap sayesinde çağdaş Amerikan yazarlarının başta gelenlerinden biri oldu. Savaş sonrası, yazarlığa zamanının çoğunu ayırmadan önce, Şikago Üniversitesi'nde antropoloji dalında uzmanlaştı. Başlangıçta bilim-kurgu üzerinde yoğunlaştı ve ilk yayınlanan romanı, Player Piano (Otomatik Piyano), bu dalda Vonnegut'a büyük övgü kazandırdı. Sonraki zamanlarda her ne kadar bilim-kurgu dalından uzaklaştığını belirtse de, yazdığı kitaplarda etkileri halen görülebilir.

The bibliography of Kurt Vonnegut (1922–2007) includes essays, books, and fiction written by the Indianapolis-born author. Vonnegut began his literary career with science fiction short stories and novels, but abandoned the genre to focus on political writings and painting in his later life.
